Farasan Islands

Stunning archipelago of 84 coral islands with pristine beaches, rich marine life, and historic sites.

About This Destination

The Farasan Islands are a stunning archipelago of 84 coral islands approximately 50km off the Jazan coast in the Red Sea. The government provides free ferry rides twice daily from Jazan Port, making this paradise accessible to all visitors. The islands boast extraordinary marine biodiversity with around 200 fish species, 50 coral types, and three dolphin species. Diving sites include Marmar, Dohra, Shib Ammar, Goorgonian Point, and Dannak, offering encounters with manta rays, whale sharks, endangered green and hawksbill sea turtles, and dugongs. The Farasan Island Marine Sanctuary protects diverse wildlife including Arabian gazelles. Historical attractions include the Ottoman Castle perched strategically on a mountain peak, Al Qassar Heritage Village possibly dating to Roman times with its large palm oasis, and Al-Najdi Mosque built in 1929 with Indian-influenced paintings. The expansive Al-Qandal Forest provides vital habitats. As part of Vision 2030, infrastructure improvements enhance accessibility while preserving natural beauty.
